Additional Details

AliMed Pediatric Dynamic Foot Stabilizer (DFS) The pediatric foot has more fat and soft tissue in proportion to bone. At his developmental stage, control is most easily achieved with an external device. DFS can uniquely control the position of the rear foot. As a child matures through adolescence, symptoms such as heel pain and arch strain develop. Knee pain and leg cramps are also common. Treatment with DFS can help eliminate these symptoms. Other pediatric applications for DFS include: pronation as a result of having worn a Denis Browne bar, pediatric growing pains, and "cookie" replacement.

  • Deep 5° offset heel seat significantly reduces and decelerates pronatory motion at the subtalar joint and controls midtarsal joint motion in the horizontal plane

  • Independent medial and lateral column controls with high medial and lateral flanges focus on specific control of calcaneus and medial column

  • Long lateral flange for controlling abduction of the forefoot often associated with H.A.V.

Suggested code: L3170.

Sizing should be fit by trial and error. Sizes given are approximate by shoe size.

The pediatric foot has more fat and soft tissue in proportion to bone. At this developmental stage, control is most easily achieved with an external device. The helps control fl at feet by providing support for the calcaneus and medial column, as well as providing abduction of the forefoot (H.A.V.) and reduction and deceleration of pronatory motion at the subtalar joint. As a child matures through adolescence, symptoms such as heel pain and arch strain develop. Knee pain and leg cramps are also common. Treatment with DFS can help eliminate these symptoms. Other pediatric applications for DFS include pronation as a result of having worn a Denis- Browne Bar, pediatric growing pains, and “cookie” replacement.

Patients who are prone to develop hallux abducto valgus or who have had surgical correction for bunions have a tendency for transverse plane rotation. The DFS helps control rotation by reducing pronatory motion at the subtalar joint. Other applications include patients with tibial pain or difficulty tolerating traditional orthotics due to a lack of foot control.
